Pulmonary Associates of the Southeast (formerly "Pulmonary Associates") was formed more than 50 years ago by Dr. A.H. Russakoff. Over the last 50 years, physicians have been added to the group, starting with Dr. Russakoff's nephew who practiced with him for several years. As one might expect, practices grow and physicians join and then leave for other endeavors. This practice has experienced the same. However, through these changes, we have maintained the high standards that Dr. Russakoff set for himself and this group.

Initially the group practiced only basic pulmonary medicine and the internal medicine that follows that type of practice. As physicians were added, we expanded our services to include bronchoscopy, critical care medicine, sleep disorders, adult and pediatric allergy and asthma, occupational lung diseases, and exercise testing. Dr. Russakoff was deeply involved with teaching and, early on, taught at the UAB Medical School. Through the years, this group has continued it's involvement in the teaching of house staff. We regularly work with one or two resident physicians monthly in the hospital.

Our future is devoted to growth of our practice and to being one of the premiere pulmonary groups in the southeast. As we expand our coverage and services, we will continue to have quality care for our patients as our first and most important objective. This practice was founded on that principle and will continue to strive for that high standard.
